Champagne Quartet is located in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area. We are part of Region 13 of Sweet Adelines, which includes Washington, Idaho and Alaska. Our SAI regional competitions are held in April of each year. Sweet Adelines International is a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. Champagne also performs and competes as part of several other events including the Harmony in the Valley contest in Puyallup, WA and the Jazzy June show in Tacoma. More information about these organizations can be found on the Links page.
In August 2008, Debra and Rebecca wanted to quartet together and began searching for a tenor and bass. After a diligent search, they teamed up with Tamara Kamp and Valorie Osterman. Champagne went on to win Best Novice Quartet at their first regional competition in April 2009! Due to family reasons, Tamara had to leave the quartet in the summer of 2009. Tamara's departure coincided with the dissolution of Robin's quartet, Vocal Motion, and Champagne had a new tenor. Sometimes it seems like it was meant to be!
We are constantly refining our sound, expanding our repertoire, performing just about anywhere, and planning for competitions. Since each member of Champagne works in education of some sort, it is no surprise that learning and teaching are very important to Champagne. We take advantage of the abundant number of international caliber judges and coaches who reside in our beautiful Pacific Northwest and have ourselves coached often. Champagne firmly believes in supporting our three choruses so we frequently appear on their shows. Our different choruses provide us with the opportunity to learn and approach tasks with a variety of viewpoints. Of course, having members from three different choruses usually means that we don't know the same version of anything! We enjoy learning new music and are always on the lookout for more to learn.
Champagne loves working and learning together but most of all, we love to perform and are constantly on the lookout for places to sing. We've sung up and down the Greater Puget Sound corridor and periodically venture over to the Kitsap Peninsula. Contact us if we can perform for you!
